Thoughts and Feelings about The Clues
In this crossword I have added 4 words, that make the theme of the puzzle.
Here they are:
1A. The city of light and love being PARIS. Did you know that, Paris, France, has secured the No. 1 spot as the best city in the world, according to Euromonitor International’s Top 100 City Destinations ranking.
The city of love conquers all.
Sorry, New York. “Paris has retained the title of the world’s leading city following exceptional performance across the tourism policy and attractiveness; tourism infrastructure; and tourism performance pillars,” said Nadejda Popova, Senior Project Manager at Euromonitor. Read the New York Post article here: https://nypost.com/2022/12/15/sorry-new-york-paris-is-the-best-city-in-the-world-again/
23A. Being The Light for Christians: JESUS, birth is what we celebrate at Christmas. Did you hear the news that, Jordan has launched a $300 million, six-phase project ahead of Christmas celebrations to develop the officially recognized site of Jesus Christ's baptism located on the east bank of the Jordan River. Jordan offers a variety of tourism possibilities: adventure, medical and religious, with many notable Christian and biblical sites. But Jordanian Catholic priest Father Rifat Bader said the most important is the site of Jesus Christ's baptism. You can read the article here: https://www.voanews.com/a/jordan-seeks-funding-for-development-near-jesus-baptism-site-/6877979.html
16D. The holiday season, or YULETIDE, is synonymous with alcohol. Rum-spiked eggnog and wine at the holiday party, it seems like there is a cup of Christmas cheer at every corner. But what are the alternatives? Saying no to alcohol is the new cool. Take a look here: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/edmonton/the-loop-explores-a-teetotal-yuletide-1.6687645
25D. You and me, we can all use some good luck and wonder in our lives, like a "winter wonder man" also known as SANTA. But why is Santa Claus dressed in red? Christmas lights sparkle in every color as they line trees and homes. But the man coming down our chimney sports only one shade. Santa Claus is dressed in red and hopefully with gifts in tow, but he hasn't always been monochromatic. Santa is based on Saint Nicholas, the fourth-century patron Saint known for giving gifts. More Comments on Some of The Clues
10A. A WELL-MEANT decision, action, or comment is intended to be helpful or kind but is unsuccessful or causes problems. Like someone says: "Any decision taken by them now, however well-meant, could complicate the peace process." Peace to all men of good will! At least they have been trying. And as long as they don't give up, nothing really has been lost for good.
13A. "He MEANDERED with the sightseers gawping at the boat people. " - quoting John le Carré. Probably like most of us, we are wandering aimlessly or casually without urgent destination in life. Going where the flow brings us. Because the current can be so strong in our lives at times. Making it impossible to go against it at certain moments.
4D. Upland and LOWLAND are portions of plain that are conditionally categorized by their elevation above the sea level. Lowlands are usually no higher than 200 m (660 ft), while uplands are somewhere around 200 m (660 ft) to 500 m (1,600 ft). On unusual occasions, certain lowlands such as, The Netherlands, and the Caspian Depression lie below sea level. Proper water house-holding and protection against flooding being required obviously.
21D.The Ojibwe, OJIBWA, Chippewa, or Saulteaux are an Anishinaabe people in what is currently southern Canada, the northern Midwestern United States, and Northern Plains. According to the U.S. census, in the United States Ojibwe people are one of the largest tribal populations among Native American peoples. In Canada, they are the second-largest First Nations population, surpassed only by the Cree. They are one of the most numerous Indigenous Peoples north of the Rio Grande.
